First Major RFA for Tennessee Mouse Genome Consortium (September 1999)

The Tennessee Mouse Genome Consortium (TMGC), which is housed in the Life Sciences Division, is putting in its first major National Institutes of Health Request for Applications (RFA) in response to MH-99-007 entitled "Mouse Mutagenesis and Phenotyping: Nervous System and Behavior." Daniel Goldowitz at the University of Tennessee-Memphis will be the leading principal investigator on this application. The budget will be in the area of $3 million/year with ORNL's portion about $1.3 million/year.

In preparation for this effort, screening protocols are being established at TMGC members using ORNL mice. Specifically for this RFA, ORNL mice have gone to Vanderbilt University for brain tissue analysis using microchip array, the University of Memphis for drug and alcohol sensitivity, and Meharry Medical College for behavior testing.
