ORNL Life Sciences Division Hosts Scientific Advisory Committee (September 1999)

The Life Sciences Division Advisory Committee convenes at ORNL approximately every 18 months to review the division's scientific agenda, directions, programs, initiatives, and related issues. The most recent Information Meeting was held September 27 - 29, 1999. The committee consists of :

• Mitchel Berger, Professor and Chairman, Department of Neurological Surgery; and Director, Brain Tumor Research Center, University of California, San Fransisco
• Charles DeLisi, Dean, College of Engineering, Boston University
• Raymond Gesteland, Professor, Department of Human Genetics, University of Utah
• Lee Hood, Professor and Chairman, Department of Molecular Biotechnology, University of Washington
• Dan McDonald, Director, Instrumentation and Controls Division, ORNL
• Donald Reed, Professor and Director, Environmental Health Sciences Center, Oregon State University
• David Smith, Committee Chairman, retired Director of Life Sciences Division, DOE Office of Biological and Environmental Research.

Interactions with the committee members continue between Information Meetings to address specific scientific and programmatic opportunities.
